We invite you to the main restaurant of the hotel, Metropol. Metropol is a legendary restaurant. The history of the whole century is bound up with it. Noisy banquets, high-life weddings, international conferences, political debates, all these were held in Metropol. Under the vault of the hall Fyodor I. Shalyapin sang, Vladimir I. Lenin made speeches, Bernard Shaw ordered vegetarian dishes, King of Spain Juan Carlos made receptions, Michael Jackson played softly the piano - it is impossible to enumerate all the guests of note who visited the restaurant. Today Metropol is glad to see the new visitors.

Cuisine.

If a thought to taste the genuine Russian cuisine occurred to you, the Metropol restaurant is just for you. Traditional blinis (kind of pancakes) with caviar, far-famed Russian shchi (cabbage soup) and solyankas (meat or fish soup with salted cucumbers and olives), salmon, stellate sturgeon, meat and mushrooms - the recipes of many dishes were handed over from generation of Metropol chefs. The Meropol restaurant is also famous for the menu of European cuisine and carte-des-vins: what a combination!  

Architecture

The monumental hall of the restaurant with a great glass dome, a marble fountain, splendid standard lights, wall painting in the manner of Rubens make a deep impression.  At first the decoration was made in the moderne style by architect S. Galenzovsky. In 1910 A. Erixson decided to restructure the restaurant by adding the elements of neoclassicism.
In 1986 the restaurant was closed for restoration as a result of which splendid wall painting was cleared, the pedestal on which the sculpture of the boy is set in the fountain was renewed, the glass dome restored the former magnificence. Every fragment of the dome was cleared, the defective glass panels were replaced by new ones, if need be, every dome part out of 2500 was covered with transparent glass from above.
