In the beginning of November high guests from the Netherlands put up in Metropol. It was Vladimir V. Putin, the President of Russia who invited the delegation with Prime-Minister Jaan Peter Balkenende at the head to make an official visit. The delegation included the Secretary of States of the Ministry of Economics of the Netherlands, the Minister of Foreign Trade of the Netherlands Mr. Xeemskerk as well as eliminent representatives of business circles (Shell, Gazuni, Phillips, Campina, Unilever, KLM, Rotterdam Port companies, ING, Rabobank, Van Oord banks and others).
A number of meetings was held in the banquet halls of the hotel at which many important agreements with Russian entrepreneurs were concluded. Mr. Balkenende took part in seminars on agricultural business, development of transport and power engineering also held in Metropol.
On the 7-th of November a presentation of a mobile laboratory designed for execution of power engineering audit and ecological measurements took place near the entrance to Evropeisky restaurant.
In the Gold reception-room the Prime-Minister of the Netherlands gave Russian and foreign journalists an interview which was transmitted over the central TV channel.
Shortly after the visit of the Prime-Minister one more high guest from the Netherlands, Princess Maxima arrived in Moscow within the scope of strengthening cooperation between two countries. This visit is the second one Princess Maxima made to Moscow. Her Highness took part in several economic conferences arranged with the participation of representatives of Russian business elite.
The high guests were met by Metropol General Manager Yury P. Matkov.
